Appeal launched after Dunoon murder

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed and another seriously injured after a fight broke out in a Dunoon pub.

The two men involved in the altercation, aged 29 and 30, became involved in a fight the town's Church Square at 8pm last night.

The 30-year-old man died at the scene.

The 29-year-old man was take to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he is in a serious condition.

Police said they are treating the attack on him as attempted murder and the other man's death as murder.

Detective Inspector Ross McCallum said: "Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident. I would appeal to anyone with information that may assist police enquiries to contact Dunoon Police Office on 01369 763 000."

A post-mortem examination is due to take place to establish the cause of death.
