Appeal after man is assaulted and robbed

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed in the Capital.

The 26-year-old had left the Post Office on Great Junction Street at about 10.30am on Tuesday when he was grabbed from behind and punched.

The robber took some money and his bicycle and then headed off on the bike towards the Kirkgate Shopping Centre.

The suspect is described as being black, 5ft 10in, of stocky build, with dreadlocks. He was wearing a dark-coloured jumper and dark jeans.

A police spokesperson said: "We're asking anyone who may have been there and witnessed this to come forward."
