Appeal after blaze rescue

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman had to be rescued from her home during a suspicious fire.

Two firefighters used ladders to rescue the 48-year-old through her first-floor living room window when the fire broke out in the stairwell of the building in Addiewell, West Lothian at around 5.30am on Sunday.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flats in Moorelands to extinguish the fire and the woman was taken to St John's Hospital but has since been discharged.
