The advert depicted a staunchly Scottish man who is riled upon being introduced to his daughter’s English boyfriend.

The ASA say they will be taking no further action, after there were 67 complaints.

In the advert, the Cockney unwittingly alarms the father by revealing an England top with a ‘1966’ badge, before introducing his dog, Wembley, which sits on his Saltire rug and passes wind.

However, the authority says that after investigating the complaints, no further action would be taken.

The news comes just a day after another Irn-Bru advert was cleared by authorities after some viewers claimed the advert was sexist, demeaning to women and unsuitable for children. It showed a mum hugging her son close to her cleavage as his friends look on in shock.
