Another string to Matt's bow

A FORMER Broughton High pupil has won a place in the European Union Youth Orchestra.

Violinist Matt Bain, 23, has been called up to the EUYO for its spring tour playing ten concerts in Switzerland and Italy.

Mr Bain formerly led the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and Camerata Scotland, and achieved first-class honours and a masters with distinction in music at Oxford.

He is studying at the Royal College of Music, and earlier this month won the concerto prize at the Edinburgh Competition Festival.
