Anglers can hook £1000

Anglers in Edinburgh are being given the chance to reel in £1000 by taking part in a charity fishing contest.

Macmillan Cancer Support is looking for hundreds of keen fishermen and women to take part in its Big Fish competition this June.

The charity hopes to raise 40,000 from the contest, which is being run across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Local anglers can take part at Crosswood Fishery in West Lothian for the chance to win 1000 in vouchers.

Celebrity angler Paul Young, who presents TV show Hooked on Fishing, said: "The Big Fish is a great event that I'm delighted to support.

"It gives people a chance to raise money while doing something they enjoy.

"I hope lots of people will sign up to take part."
