Angler's body recovered from River Tay

A 58-year-old man has died in a fishing accident, police said today.

Alan Taylor, of Dundee, got into difficulties while he was angling on a stretch of the River Tay in Perthshire.

The accident happened close to the Jubilee Bridge in Dunkeld on Saturday.

His body was discovered by other fishermen shortly after 3pm and it was recovered from the water by Tayside Police's search and rescue team.

Mr Taylor was a member of Lochee Angling Club with over 30 years' experience, Tayside Police said.

A force spokesman added: "There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
