Anger over cuts to city leisure budget

THE decision to slash the budget of the company that manages the city's sports facilities is forcing it to close centres, a board member said today.

Administration councillors have backed proposals to slash Edinburgh Leisure's budget by 347,000, or four per cent, from April.

And Labour councillor Gordon Munro, who sits on the Edinburgh Leisure board, said: "This puts a very bad decision before the board of Edinburgh Leisure. How they decide to deal with may be - as the leader of the council put it - 'a board decision' but it is one which has been forced on them by the SNP/Lib-Dem administration."
