Anger over charity snub

THE latest UK Government drive to get people into work has been condemned as a "travesty" after the key Scottish contracts were awarded to private sector companies rather than voluntary organisations.

UK employment minister Chris Grayling tried to allay concerns as he attended a summit in Edinburgh yesterday.

But Martin Sime, chief executive of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, said: "The third sector's skills are clearly not recognised and the minister made no apology."
