Anderson ready to Reid his rival the riot act in Sheffield

EDINBURGH boxer Kenny Anderson will bid to become British super-middleweight champion tomorrow night when he faces former world champion Robin Reid at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

The experienced Reid, 41, is still buzzing from being handed such an opportunity at this stage of his career, and is sure to provide a stern challenge for the Capital fighter, but Anderson believes he has enough in his locker to dispel any hopes Reid has of taking home the domestic title.

The 29-year-old said: “I think he’s going to be the hardest opponent I have faced so far. He’s a good counterpuncher, an
experienced fighter, a dangerous fighter and has fought a lot of championship fights, but that doesn’t concern me.

“I know what I have got and what I am bringing to the table, so that will be all too much for him.”

Anderson’s proposed title clash this year with George Groves failed to materialise on more than one occasion, the Englishman citing injuries
behind his decisions to
withdraw. However, moves by the British Boxing Board of Control to declare the British super-middleweight title vacant, gave the green light for Anderson to finally have a crack at glory.

Anderson, currently based in Lancashire, added: “Training has been going really well, so I’m ready to go for the title. There is quite a strong contingent travelling down from
Scotland so it would be nice if there was a bit of a crowd
supporting me.”
