Amy sings praises of Lothian carers band

YOUNG carers from the Lothians have been praised by chart-topper Amy Macdonald ahead of their first public appearance as a music group.

The Scots singer-songwriter met the four 14 and 15-year-olds, who formed with the support of charity Children 1st and the Heart of Midlothian Education Trust, ahead of their gig at the Ross Bandstand in Princes Street Gardens on July 20.

Amy told the teenagers: “When I first started I was so scared. I don’t know how you guys do it at such a young age.

“I eventually started playing at bigger venues with people that had actually come just to see me. And suddenly I started to lose all my nerves and always got very excited about it.

“It’s just such a great feeling when you see everyone sing along with you.”
