Ambassadors wanted to peddle bike map

THE groups responsible for the city's Inner Tube bike map are looking for "ambassadors" to promote cycling in the Capital.

The Bike Station and Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust launched the cycling map last month and now want to raise its profile in order to ensure the network becomes well-used and potentially better funded.

The ten ambassadors will receive smart phones to help promote the network covered by the map. Speaking about the map earlier this year, creator Mark Sydenham said: "There's potential to take thousands of cars off the road.

"The cycle paths go from Granton to Leith to Cramond, right into Haymarket - they're perfect for daily commuter journeys. One of the most common reasons people have for not cycling is that they're put off by the traffic, but in Edinburgh they can easily stick to the paths."
