Amazon activists shot in Brazil

A BRAZILIAN activist fighting to protect the Amazon rain forest from loggers has been shot and killed along with his wife.

Jose Claudio Ribiero da Silva died in the Para region just hours before congress passed legislation that environmentalists say will increase deforestation.
