Alistair Darling completes Ice Bucket Challenge

ALISTAIR Darling, the leader of the Better Together campaign, has taken part in the viral charity phenomenon known as the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’.

Darling, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, is soaked with buckets of water by members of Better Together campaign staff in the video, released this afternoon.

The Challenge sees individuals pour freezing water on themselves to raise awareness of charities campaigning for Motor Neurone Disease and cancer among others, then nominate others to do the same.

Darling’s video is in aid of MND Scotland - Better Together’s director of research Gordon Aikman revealed his diagnosis with the disease earlier this year.

Darling was nominated to complete the Challenge by Scottish actor James McAvoy, as was First Minister Alex Salmond.

Darling called on the staff of the pro-union campaign to carry out the Challenge, while Alex Salmond is reportedly set to follow Darling’s lead and complete the Challenge.
