Alex McLeish seeks £800,000 transfer deal for city hotel

FORMER Rangers and Scotland manager Alex McLeish has plunged into the transfer market again - by selling a hotel he co-owns in Edinburgh.

Situated in an A-listed townhouse on Brunswick Street, the Brunswick Hotel has 10 bedrooms and a secluded private garden.

But he and business partner Ewan Gillies have opted to put it on the market.

Mr Gillies said: "I have had to run the hotel under management due to other business commitments and Alex has always been a silent partner.

"Whilst it will be sad to sell, it is the perfect hotel for an enthusiastic couple and is also likely to attract developers due to the features of the building."

The property is being marketed by Knight Frank, who say they expect a great deal of interest in the business.

Offers over 795,000 are being considered for the hotel.

The building was designed by the great Scottish architect, William Henry Playfair.
