Alcoholic with air rifle branded danger to public

A registered alcoholic accused of carrying an air rifle in “strange circumstances” has been remanded in custody after a sheriff ruled he presented a danger to the public.

Paul Fannon, 36, appeared from custody at Livingston Sheriff Court following a series of alleged incidents described by a sheriff as “sinister”.

He was accused of being in possession of an air rifle with a telescopic sight and silencer and trespassing at a house in Uphall, West Lothian, with a firearm on Sunday. He was charged with driving his Mazda 6 car with a breath/alcohol count of 119mg – almost four times the 35mg limit – during the same alleged incident.
