Alastair up for top prize

The man who established the Greener Leith website is one of three people in Scotland to be short-listed for the Talk Talk "Digital Heroes" Awards.

Alastair Tibbitt is in with a chance of winning 10,000 in what is the UK's only scheme to reward individuals who are using digital technology to benefit their local communities.

The person who receives the most votes in each regional shortlist will be awarded 5000 for the charity they work for.

Fellow Edinburgh resident Paul Steel, who fought to save the local War Memorial Hall when it was in danger of closure, is also up for the award
