Alan ready to hit the road for charity drive

KIND-hearted businessman Alan Biggar is gearing up for another drive around the UK in his vintage Morgan sports car to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Mr Biggar, former head of Brewin Dolphin's Edinburgh office, is a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust and is dedicated to helping the charity reach its 1.6 million target for the East of Scotland Appeal.

Over the last three years, he has raised a total of 201,000 for the charity.

The two-week drive will start from the Scottish Motorfair at Knockhill on May 22, and is scheduled to finish in the Capital on June 6. Mr Biggar will also raise money for Radio Forth's Cash for Kids charity.

This will be the second time that Mr Biggar has taken to the road for the Teenage Cancer Trust, the first time being in memory of 17-year-old cancer victim Zoe King in 2008.

Mr Biggar said: "I can't wait to set off on another charity drive round the UK."

Louise Stirton, Teenage Cancer Trust's fundraising executive for Scotland, said: "It's incredible that Alan is going off to do this a second time for us. His dedication is amazing."
