Aitchison says sorry to Dawe
THE chief executive of the city council has publicly apologised to council leader Jenny Dawe for not telling her about a payment made to a creditor of the collapsed firm behind a Homecoming Scotland event.
The council made a 6000 payment to a creditor of The Gathering after it emerged that a letter from the council's finance director, Donald McGougan, was seen by the firm as amounting to a guarantee - and they lodged a claim in court.
Council chief executive Tom Aitchison said: "The decision was made by an officer, not an elected member."
Councillor Dawe said: "I welcome the comments."
