Airport travel numbers soar

PASSENGER numbers at Edinburgh Airport rose again last month, despite falling at Scotland's two other largest airports.

Numbers at Edinburgh were up 0.6 per cent last month to just over 961,000.

Glasgow recorded a fall of 3.6 per cent to just under 789,000 while Aberdeen decreased 4.1 per cent to just under 277,000.

Britain's biggest airport, Heathrow, had its busiest ever month in July, handling 6.7 million passengers - up 3.5 per cent on last year.
