Airport sell-off drive ready to take off in the New Year

A SALES drive is expected to get under way early next year to find a buyer for Edinburgh Airport.

A new report by the city council has confirmed that the airport will be formally brought to the market in January 2012, with a view to agreeing a sale in the summer. Council chiefs are to draw up a full prospectus detailing what their expectations are from any new owner.

Dave Anderson, director of city development, said: “The airport is vital to the future economic growth of Edinburgh and the country as a whole. We would like to see the new owners fully acknowledge this important role and work with the council to maximise the sustainable economic growth opportunities available locally, regionally and nationally.”
