Airport lands boost with arrival of departure lounge

EDINBURGH Airport's new £40 million departure lounge and security hall was officially opened by Finance Secretary John Swinney yesterday.

The new facilities will create around 150 new jobs and handle up to 13 million passengers per year. It represents the biggest single project in the airport's 33-year history. The expanded departure lounge boasts 12 new retailers, while the new security hall provides more X-ray machines.

Outgoing managing director Gordon Dewar and his successor, Kevin Brown, welcomed Mr Swinney with a tour of the new facilities.
