Airport funding helps young people set sail for adventure

TWO dozen young people are set to go sailing in April courtesy of the Ocean Youth Trust.

Working with Edinburgh Airport, the charity is sending two vessels, each with 12 youngsters, on a week-long voyage around Scotland.

Covering 250 miles, the teams will visit remote islands and see rare sea creatures.

Kevin Brown, managing director at Edinburgh Airport, said: "We're delighted to be able to help 24 disadvantaged young people from our local community to do something that would be normally out of reach."

Applications to join the voyage can be sent to office@ oytscotland.org.uk.

The airport donated 5000 towards the trip. The voyages are led by professional and volunteer staff, and last at least five days. Anybody aged between 12 and 24 can apply.

The trip from Greenock departs on April 11. Exactly a week later, the voyage from Oban sets sail.
