Air travel chaos: Serving up a new plan in order to report for duty

BBC Scotland sports reporter Annie McGuire has been stuck in Menton on the French Riviera after covering Andy Murray's progress at the Monte Carlo Masters with other journalists.

Having spent the weekend wondering how to get home, she has at last settled on a plan of action.

She said: "Three bold adventurers left on Friday morning, thinking they'd hire a Mercedes to drive to Calais. All that was left was a Renault Clio. But 24 hours later they were in Dover, and we were still sitting wondering what to do.

"We plan to get the first available TGV (train] – which is on Wednesday – from Nice to Lille, the Eurostar from Lille to London – then I will get the sleeper from Euston to Glasgow."
