Air travel chaos: Couple back in Britain from Paris, but it cost them £1,000

AMONG those Scots to arrive home on British soil yesterday was Grahame Cardno.

The 75-year-old had been on holiday in Paris with his wife Dorothy and had to pay almost 1,000 to secure train tickets home.

However, recalling the chaotic scenes in Paris, he said the extra expense was worthwhile, with the couple arriving in London via Eurostar yesterday.

Mr Cardno, from Milltimber near Aberdeen, said: "All things considered, we have really done pretty well. We were supposed to fly back on Sunday but we managed to get two train tickets today due to a cancellation.

"Our tickets, including train fare to get back to Aberdeen, have set us back nearly 1,000 and I've no idea who is going to end up paying."
