Aged 64 and dram fine, the $100,000 malt

THE Macallan Scotch Whisky's oldest and rarest whisky ever bottled is to be auctioned in New York in a one-of-a-kind decanter next week, expecting to raise over $100,000 (£62,000) for charity.

The Lalique decanter filled with 1.5 litres of the 64-year-old single malt will go under the hammer on Monday at Sotheby's. The proceeds will go to the not-for-profit organisation charity: water.

The sale is the culmination of a tour which has seen the whisky travel the world with tiny tastes auctioned off. About $145,000 (90,000) has been raised so far.
