Aberdeen remove meat products from Pittodrie menu

ABERDEEN FC have removed from sale all meat products from the menu at Pittodrie tonight ahead of their Scottish Premier League match against Ross County.

The decision follows action by French firm Sodexo to withdraw its beef products ‘for which they do not have evidence of DNA testing.’

Sodexo removed items from sale last week after traces of horse DNA were found in some of its beef products. It currently serves around 2300 outlets in Britain.

A statement from the SPL club read: “Aberdeen Football Club will not be offering any meat products within Pittodrie Stadium during this evening’s SPL match against Ross County.

“Sodexo, AFC’s catering partner, took the decision to withdraw all frozen and processed beef products for which they do not have evidence of DNA testing.”

Additional supplies of macaroni and chicken pies have been bought in as a replacement, according to the statement.
