Aberdeen post office attempted robber wanted

A MAN who threatened staff with a weapon during an attempted robbery at an Aberdeen branch of the Post Office is being hunted by police.

The would-be robber fled empty-handed following the raid on the Post Office on Oldmeldrum Road, Bucksburn, at lunchtime.

A spokesman for the Aberdeen Division of Police Scotland said: “Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at the Post Office on Oldmeldrum Road, Bucksburn, Aberdeen.

“The incident happened around 12.30pm on Monday 5 August 2013 whereby a male presented a weapon at staff.

“No items were taken and no one was injured as a result of the incident but the staff were considerably shaken up.”

The man being sought is described as between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall, of slim build, and unshaven. He was wearing a green hooded top possibly with a hat underneath the hood, a grey scarf, blue tracksuit bottoms and white training shoes. He is thought to be aged between 20 and 30 years of age and spoke with a local accent.

The force spokesman added: “Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.”
