The man is said to have been viciously assaulted following an incident in which a white Ford Transit van was forced off the road by a Subaru Impreza.

Police Scotland have launched a major investigation into the incident on the city’s Provost Rust Drive on Sunday afternoon, but claims that the driver of the transit van had been abducted by the masked gang have already been dismissed by the force.

Detective Inspector Stewart Sloan, who is heading the investigation, said: “A disturbance took place and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. Anyone who has witnessed this incident is asked to come forward.
