A8 upgrade a step closer

WORK to upgrade the last remaining part of the A8 to motorway status has moved a step closer with the publication of new road orders.

The orders will enable improvements to be carried out on key sections of the M73 and M74, as well as converting the A8 between Baillieston and Newhouse to motorway.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: "It has long been recognised that improvements to Raith junction and to the M73 and M74 along with the upgrade to motorway status of the A8 Baillieston to Newhouse would deliver many benefits to motorists."
