A one-gun salute for Miss Scotland

MISS World’s 60th birthday celebrations went with a bang yesterday as more than 100 beauty queens visited Edinburgh Castle.

Contestants from 122 countries around the world descended on the attraction as part of a five-day tour of Scotland before they compete in the Miss World final next month in London.

The honour of helping to fire the castle’s famous One o’Clock Gun fell to reigning Miss Scotland Jennifer Reoch, 22, from Glasgow. She said: “It’s been great to have all the girls here in my home country. It’s nice to see them excited about where I come from.”

The contest final is in London on 6 November.
