A canal dream come true for celebrations

A FLOTILLA of boats sailed down the Union Canal to mark the tenth anniversary of the reopening of the waterway.

Led by a replica steam packet boat, the first to enter the canal after its re-launch in 2000, the vessels set off from Edinburgh Quay at 9am on Saturday, travelling through the Slateford Aquaduct, and out to the city limits.

They then sailed through West Lothian, arriving in Linlithgow late on Saturday afternoon.
