A MAN has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 42-year-old roofer in Essex after being pulled over by armed police in East Lothian.

Anton Prickett, 42, was discovered lying in the middle of a road in the town of St Osyth on the Essex coast after allegedly being gunned down as he loaded tools into his van.

He died in hospital after being shot twice in the stomach around 5am yesterday.

A man was then stopped by armed officers outside the East Lothian town of Wallyford as he drove north on the A1 around 12.45pm yesterday.

The road was closed briefly. A police spokeswoman said: "A man was arrested in connection with an Essex Police inquiry."

• A REVIEW of the use of super-injunctions is today expected to recommend that the media are allowed into court when the gagging orders are being sought.

The report by a committee headed by Master of the Rolls Lord Neuberger comes a day after the partial lifting of an injunction given to ex-Royal Bank of Scotland head Sir Fred Goodwin over allegations that he had an affair with a senior colleague.

The claims were made public yesterday by Liberal Democrat peer Lord Stoneham, using parliamentary privilege in the House of Lords.

Concerns were voiced that the relationship may have affected Sir Fred's judgement at a fraught time.

• A PUPIL at a top private school in the Capital has reportedly been suspended for using a sectarian slur against pupils at a catholic school.

The sixth-form boy from Stewart's Melville College made the bigoted comments on Facebook while reading that his school's football team would play either St Aloysius' College or another side in a cup final.

He wrote on the Independent Schools Cup page: "I hope we get St Aloysius cos they are a bunch of F***** b*******."

The head of St Aloysius alerted Stewart's Melville after being told about the comments.
