9am Briefing: Woman's narrow escape as flat blaze went unnoticed for two hours

A WOMAN had a lucky escape after she failed to notice a fire in her kitchen for two hours because there were no smoke detectors fitted in the flat.

Firefighters were called to the fire, which broke out in a tumble dryer, on Caledonian Crescent in Dalry at around 9.25pm last night.

The 49-year-old woman, who suffered smoke inhalation, was given oxygen at the scene by firefighters before being transported to the Royal Infirmary by ambulance.
