9am Briefing: Suzanne Pilley's DNA found in ex's car

DETECTIVES investigating the death of missing Suzanne Pilley have reportedly found DNA traces of her hair and tissue in the boot of her former lover's car.

Reports suggest forensic experts who took samples from David Gilroy's silver car found a match with the 38-year-old, who police believe was murdered in the Edinburgh office basement where she worked on 4 May before her body was dumped in Argyll.

Sources reportedly described the DNA find as "not significant" as the pair had a year long affair. A police spokesman said Miss Pilley would have been a "frequent user of the vehicle".

NEIGHBOURS risked their lives to save a man from a fire.

Two neighbours, aged 29 and 39, rushed into a kitchen fire at the house on Cameron Way, Livingston, to save its 22-year-old occupant while a third neighbour put out the fire with a dry powder extinguisher.

Three of the men, including the rescued man, were taken to St John's hospital with smoke inhalation. One had slight burns and was kept in overnight.

The 12-year-old fell 25 feet through the corrugated roof of Ace Exhaust and Tyres on Livery Street in Bathgate.

He had to be taken to the Sick Kids Hospital with a suspected broken wrist, as well as head and leg injuries.

Two other male youths were also on the garage roof at the time that the accident happened, shortly after 9.30pm on Saturday, but both of them escaped injury.

Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended the incident.
