9am Briefing: Search resumes for body of student washed into the sea

POLICE today resumed the search for the body of a 20-year-old University of Edinburgh student who was washed into the Atlantic ocean in the Irish Republic at the weekend.

It was confirmed yesterday that the missing man is Craig McIntyre, who is from Colinton and is studying German at the university.

His parents, Morag and David, are understood to have been in Ireland as the search continued amid heavy seas off the south-west coast of County Cork.

Moffat appeal in the balance

LABOUR'S ruling national executive committee was today deciding the fate of controversial East Lothian MP Anne Moffat.

A meeting of her local party voted 130-59 on Friday night to drop her as their candidate for the general election.

But Ms Moffat has appealed to the NEC, which was meeting in London this morning to make a final decision.

Fears for missing woman

POLICE in West Lothian are are growing concerned for the well being of a 26-year-old woman who was reported missing from St John's Hospital in Livingston.

Diane Ward was last seen at the bus terminal outside the hospital at around 3pm yesterday.

She is described as being 5ft 4in, average build, long light brown hair tied in a pony tail.

She has only one top tooth at the front and the rest of her teeth are missing.

Flyglobespan creditors to meet

ADMINISTRATORS acting for failed airline Flyglobespan are to meet with the company's creditors today.

Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will explain proposals for the future of the business to people with an interest in the company who lost out financially when it collapsed in December.

They will also report on progress made since they were appointed to oversee the business.
