9am Briefing: No connection between split and disappearance, says father of missing woman

POLICE searching for missing woman Suzanne Pilley have ruled out any connection with a recent split from her boyfriend, her father says.

Speaking from his home in Stenhouse, Robert Pilley said police had discounted any connection between the break-up and her disappearance.

He said the family were baffled by the disappearance of Ms Pilley, who he said had been in good spirits and had texted her parents less than half an hour before she vanished.

THE Traverse Theatre is leading the way in nominations for this year's Critics' Awards for Theatre in Scotland (CATS).

The theatre, which showcases new writing, has nominations in six out of the ten categories for the awards, which will be presented at the Festival Theatre on 13 June.

Airport parking boost

EDINBURGH Airport has some of the UK's cheapest off-site airport parking, according to a new survey by consumer magazine Which? Car.

The cheapest parking service at the Capital's airport is 20.50 for a week, beaten only by Manchester Airport where a 19.84 tariff was available. But on-site parking is more expensive at 33.80, making the airport seventh out of 15 surveyed.

Man rescued from house fire

A MAN was treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at his house in Whitburn in the early hours of this morning. Firefighters were called to the house in North Reeves Place at around 5.10am after a pan of food caught fire. They led the man out of the building, and he was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but did not need hospital treatment.
