Toddler taken out of nursery after escape

A MOTHER has taken her toddler out of his new playgroup after he escaped on his first day.

Kaiden Wright, aged two, was found by one of his classmate's mothers in the courtyard outside St Mary's Playgroup in Haddington.

Kaiden's mum Louise has removed him from the class and the nursery has made changes after the Care Commission told it to tighten security.

Brenda White, manager of the playgroup, said: "The safety measures have been put into place now."

Rail projects 'not so green'

THE green credentials of one of the Scottish Government's biggest rail projects have been exaggerated by ignoring the impact on housing growth in the Borders, transport experts have claimed.

The 35-mile route due to be built between Edinburgh and Tweedbank by 2014 is expected to create more than 8,000 new homes over the coming two decades.

Experts claim that despite the environmental benefits of passengers shifting from road to rail the relocation of thousands of people out of the Capital to the Borders has not been taken into account.

And this could lead to a spike in pollution as people travel further to access services in the Capital.
