9am Briefing: Man arrested after body of lecturer found with stab wounds

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of lecturer Roger Gray, who was found with stab wounds at his home in Merchiston on Saturday morning. The 20-year-old is expected to to face charges at Edinburgh Sheriff Court tomorrow.

• The parents of an 18-year-old who died suddenly in her sleep have spoken of their devastation at the loss. Jade Middleton was found dead in her bed by her father Donald on the morning on March 13.

Her death remains unexplained. Online tributes have been paid to the former St Margaret's Academy pupil, who worked in the customer service team at the HEROtsc call centre in Larbert.

• Edinburgh College of Art was at risk of going bust if didn't merge with Edinburgh University, it has been revealed.

Letters from the college's chief operating officer show that auditors KPMG said Lloyds bank could have demanded immediate repayment of an outstanding loan of 11.5 million. They said the loan would be renegotiated as part of the merger.

• Firefighters have been at Grand Central Nightclub in Livingston after fire broke out at around 5.13am this morning. No one was injured.

It is the second fire there this year - in January it was deliberately set alight.
