9am Briefing: Lothians woman's horror at sister's death in Dubai

A LOTHIANS woman has spoken of her horror on learning that her ex-pat sister has been killed in her Dubai apartment.

Maria McClymont was knifed through the heart by a man she was trying to help find a job, it was reported today.

The 50-year-old HR manager's body lay undiscovered for several days, before sister Sheena Aitken alerted staff at the Golden Sands 2 apartment block after Maria failed to return her calls.

Pilley probe eyes Argyll forest

DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Suzanne Pilley have focused their attention on a specific area of forest in Argyll.

A fresh appeal for information about Miss Pilley was made today, exactly four weeks since the bookkeeper's disappearance.

It is feared the 38-year-old was murdered in the basement of her office on Thistle Street, Edinburgh, on 4 May, and police believe her body was then dumped in Argyll.

They have now appealed for anyone who was in the Glen Croe area on Wednesday, 5 May, to come forward.

Glen Croe is a forested area adjacent to the Rest and Be Thankful on the A83, and detectives are hoping to speak to anyone who was in the area between either between 1pm and 3:30pm, or in the evening between 6pm and 8:30pm.

They are also hoping to recover any private pictures taken in the area at the time

RBS targeted by eco warriors

ECO warriors targeting the Royal Bank of Scotland over its alleged role in financing companies which harm the environment are to set up a protest camp in Edinburgh.

A group called Camp for Climate Action, which has previously campaigned against the expansion of Heathrow Airport and the Kingsnorth power station in Kent, promised a "spectacular" event during the protest planned for 21-24 August.

Manson marries in US

GARBAGE singer Shirley Manson has married in a secret ceremony in the US.

The Edinburgh-born star, 43, has not revealed the name of her new American husband, but said he is not a musician.

The "unromantic" ceremony took place at a Los Angeles courthouse.
