9am Briefing: Just four passengers fly out of Edinburgh Airport

Despite hopes being raised that the situation would return to normal today, just one flight to Stornoway - with only four travellers onboard - took off at 7.16am.

Only a small handful of flights were expected to arrive and depart, with most of the major airlines continuing to cancel services.

British Airways, EasyJet and Irish carrier Aer Lingus all cancelled their flights for the day.

The only flights in and out of the airport were expected to be those going between the Capital and the Scottish islands.

Meanwhile train operator East Coast is to run extra services throughout this week to help stranded airline passengers.

Tributes for Fleming

TRIBUTES were paid today to Edinburgh actor Tom Fleming – one of the most recognisable voices in broadcasting and the voice of The Edinburgh Military Tattoo for over 40 years.

He died at St Columba's Hospice on Sunday night, aged 82.

Capital events champion Councillor Steve Cardownie said: "It's hard to think of the Tattoo without Tom. "There will be thousands of people out there who have never met him but will have fond memories of him through his voice."

First Minister Alex Salmond said: "Tom Fleming was a great Scot, who will be much missed."

Mr Fleming also voiced commentaries on royal and state occasions including the Coronation, the Silver Jubilee, two royal weddings, ten funerals, the enthronement of two Popes and three state visits by Archbishops to Japan and the US.

Fears for missing woman

CONCERNS are growing for a young woman who has been missing from her family home since last week.

Reva Paterson, 23, of Amisfield Place in Haddington, has not been in touch with anyone since Friday. It is thought she might be in the Leith or Drylaw areas of Edinburgh.

She is white, 5ft 6ins tall, with auburn hair, thin build, and a fair complexion. She may be wearing a white jacket with a number nine on the back and blue jeans.
