9am Briefing: Hibs defender charged with drink driving

HIBS defender Darren McCormack has been charged with drink-driving.

The 21-year-old was pulled over by police who allegedly saw him driving his girlfriend's Mini Cooper "erratically" near Easter Road in Edinburgh on 7 February.

Fire at steel plant

MORE than 30 firefighters battled a blaze at a steel plant in Livingston last night.

The fire broke out at Wyman-Gordon in Houston Industrial Estate just after 10pm.

Eight fire appliances and a total of 33 firefighters attended the scene.

Nobody was injured in the fire and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire.

Union talks over counncil shake-up plans

A TRADE union has launched a consultation with members on city council plans to shake up the way it pays its staff.

The GMB union has balloted its 160 members on the council to find out their views on the 'modernising pay' scheme.

The ballot asks members if they support the council's proposals. If the majority do not, it could lead to a new ballot on industrial action.

Rangers keeper looking for Capital move

RANGERS goalie Allan McGregor could be moving to the Capital.

The Ibrox star's girlfriend, Leah Shevlin, is said to have been spotted house hunting in Craiglockhart.

Team mate Kevin Thomson already lives in the area and Rangers boss Water Smith is reported to have encouraged McGregor – who was born in Edinburgh – to get out of the "goldfish bowl" of Glasgow.

The houses Ms Shevlin was seen looking at were part of the Graysmill Gait development.
