9am Briefing: Four teenagers charged with murder of delivery driver

FOUR teenagers were due in court today charged with the murder of takeaway delivery driver Simon San.

One of the group arrested yesterday is just 14, with another 15 years old and two 16.

Mr San, 40, was allegedly attacked walking from his car in Lochend Avenue last Wednesday. He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a suspected brain injury and died on Thursday morning.

Man in hospital after being found unconscious

A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was found lying unconscious on a road in the Capital.

The 37-year-old was discovered on Holyrood Road, close to the junction with Viewcraig Street, at around 4.45am on Sunday.

Lothian and Borders Police, who are appealing for witnesses, said it was unclear at this stage whether the man had been assaulted or had simply fallen over. He is not believed to have been hit by a vehicle.

He had been socialising in the Cowgate area and also at club Studio 24 on Calton Road prior to the incident.

No body in Pilley hunt

A MAJOR police operation to find suspected murder victim Suzanne Pilley has been stood down without the discovery of a body.

More than 70 volunteers joined police in a search of the Argyll Forest near Arrochar over the weekend.

Bookkeeper Miss Pilley, 38, disappeared on her way to work in Edinburgh city centre on May 4.

Lifeboat saves 'punk ravers' on Cramond

SEVEN teenagers enjoying a "punk rave" on Cramond Island had to be rescued by a lifeboat crew when they became stranded after the tide came in.

Three boys and four girls, all aged 15, were rescued by South Queensferry Inshore Lifeboat at around 6.10am yesterday. Nobody was injured.

Three in hospital after collision

THREE people were taken to hospital after a collision involving a motorbike and a car in East Lothian.

The accident took place on the road between Saltoun House and Gifford near Pencaitland at around 3.45pm yesterday.

The 38-year-old male motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary under police escort, along with a 29-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman who were travelling in the car.

They were both suffering from shock and were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
