9am Briefing: Cameron's ex-press aid Andy Coulson set to be arrested

ANDY Coulson, the former News of the World editor and press aide to David Cameron, was expected to be arrested today over the phone hacking scandal which has led to the paper's closure.

Reports said Mr Coulson had been told to attend a central London police station for questioning over claims he knew about phone hacking.

Bob Wright, father of Edinburgh paratrooper Mark Wright who was killed in Afghanistan in 2006, today called on the paper to admit if it had hacked his phone.

"I don't think you can stoop any lower," he said. "It's their duty to tell us."

• A TEENAGER had to be rescued from Arthur's Seat after her ankle became stuck.

The fire brigade had to bring in specialist line rescue equipment to reach the 15-year-old after she trapped her ankle in a gorse bush around 10.15pm last night.

Around 15 firefighters were called to the scene, along with police and paramedics. Fire crews managed to free the girl's ankle, before using lines of rope to lower her to the ground by around 11.30pm.

• HARRY Potter author JK Rowling wiped away tears as the stars of the films were joined by thousands of fans to bid an emotional farewell to the series last night.

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint spent hours meeting fans on the red carpet, which stretched from Trafalgar Square to Leicester Square, for the world premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two.

The night ended with Rowling joining the cast and crew on a stage in the square where they addressed fans.

Rowling also wiped away tears before thanking the actors for "the amazing things they did for my favourite characters".

• THE MOTHER of a teenager left in a coma after a Facebook house party has been keeping a vigil at her son's bedside.

The 17-year-old was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery after being hit with a baseball bat in Claverhouse Drive, Liberton when the party descended into a brawl.

A family friend said: "He is in a coma and his mum has been at his bedside since it happened. She is devastated"

• A BADLY-wounded soldier has delivered the Best Man's speech at his brother's wedding by videolink from a military hospital.

Guests at the wedding of David and Jen Chalmers stood to applaud as brave JJ Chalmers appeared on a video screen live from his bed in Birmingham. The 23-year-old, was seriously injured in a Taliban attack that claimed the lives of two colleagues.

JJ, a reserve in the Royal Marines, works as a design technology teacher at Balerno High School.
