College cuts

EDINBURGH'S Telford College is set to lose three senior staff just weeks after the arrival of a new principal.

Deputy principal Greg Irving, director of finance Ben McLeish and chair of the management board Ed Weeple are all understood to be leaving.

Principal Miles Dibsdall took over in April, and staff believe he has decided to press ahead with changes to senior staffing roles in a bid to transform the fortunes of the college.

College sources have said that the departures are popular among the staff, due to the fact the three executives have been closely associated with the decision to make 40 employees redundant as part of a major cost-cutting exercise.

POLICE are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a woman missing from her home in Gorgie.

Elizabeth Brown, or Hunt, 55, was reported missing on Tuesday by colleagues when she failed to return to work after a week's holiday.

Known to family and friends as Betty, she lives alone, and was last seen when she left a relative's house in Firrhill Park at around 11.30pm on 22 May, intending to take the bus back to her Gorgie Road flat. It is understood that it is not unusual for her to be out of contact with her family for periods of time, and the alarm was raised when colleagues were unable to contact her after her holiday.
