999 crews get new pay offer

Ambulance crews who rejected a proposal of extra pay to work through their breaks have received a revised offer.

The Unite, Unison and GMB unions have finished negotiations with the Scottish Ambulance Service and will ask their members to vote on the new offer which they recommend for acceptance.

In July, the workers turned down a proposed one-off payment and compensatory overtime if they worked through their rest periods.

Ambulance crews take unpaid rest breaks, during which the control room does not contact them. The results of the ballots are expected on 20 September.
