999 centre beats targets

THE police call centre for the Lothians has continued to hit national targets for answering 999 calls within ten seconds.

The Force Communication Centre at Bilston Glen in Midlothian answered 95 per cent of the 91,015 emergency calls received between April and December last year within the time target. That means it exceeded its goal of 90 per cent.

During the same period, 98 per cent of non-emergency calls were answered in the target of 40 seconds.
