75-year-old dies three weeks after mugging

A PENSIONER has died after she was attacked by a mugger just yards from her home.

Sheila Marnoch, 75, was thrown to the ground by a robber when he snatched her bags in Aberdeen's Queen Street on 13 February.

She was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with bruised legs, hands and arms after a passing couple went to her aid.

Ms Marnoch, of Middlefield Crescent, was treated for three weeks but died on Sunday.

Police have released images of a man they are looking for in connection with the attack.

Detective Inspector Matt Mackay said: "We are issuing a fresh appeal for anyone who has any information on this cowardly attack on a defenceless elderly lady to contact us as soon as possible."

The man was captured on CCTV as he walked past a Woodside supermarket where the victim had been shopping.

He is described as being in his twenties with brown hair.

He was wearing jeans, tan boots, a white woollen hat and a black jacket with a white logo on the back.

DI Mackay said: "Our sympathies are with Sheila's family and we are determined to trace those responsible for the recent robbery.

"As is normal in these circumstances, a post-mortem is being carried out and our inquiries are continuing."
