70 years on, remembering Battle of Britain heroes

THE courage and sacrifice of those who fought off the Nazis to win the Battle of Britain was remembered yesterday - the 70th anniversary of the day the first bombs fell on London.

Some 2,500 people packed into St Paul's Cathedral and many more thronged the streets. A Spitfire sat outside St Paul's, left, guarded by a member of the RAF Association.
