36 social rent houses plotted

DOZENS of new affordable homes are set to be built on London Road.

Hillcrest Housing Association has unveiled plans for 36 social rented homes on the half-acre site.

It is working in partnership with Cruden Homes on the plans, which are set to go before the city's planning committee tomorrow.

Emma Hutchison, development manager at Hillcrest, said: "We recognise that the need for affordable housing in Edinburgh is greater than ever and, if approved, our proposals will go some way to relieving the current pressure on the city's housing market.

"Our plans include a range of affordable housing accommodation, from wheelchair-accessible flats on the ground floor to one-bedroom apartments and family homes. We have full Housing Association Grant funding, ring-fenced for this site."
